Sometimes I wish I was an old man.

Because then I wouldn't have to worry about hair.
I officically hate my hair. I just can't stand it.

I wish I had a digital camera, so you could see how awful it is. It's weird and poofs up in the back. My hairstylist insists on cutting my hair with a center part, even though I have told her NUMEROUS times that I WEAR IT ON THE SIDE, so it's all strange and really uneven on that side. Grr. I hate when people don't listen. Note to see: be more assertive!

I've been considering....... side bangs. It may seem like everyone has them, but where I live, they do not. I think they make everyone look better, and steps up a ponytail to something..... chicer? Sure. Chicer. But the problem is, I like people able to put my hair in a ponytail without stuff hanging in my face? And the last time I had bangs was second grade. Granted, they were kiddy, blunt, full, across-the-forehead type, but I still clearly remember the agony of trying to grow them out. Many hair clips and a lot of water and slicking-to-the-side was involved. Yeesh. I think I've burned all the pictures. Kidding.

But... I have a mutha of a cowlick. I wonder if a stylist can work against this? If not, I will be truly sad. I at least like options. I need a digital camera. I want to put my own pictures up here! I would ask for one for Christmas... but since the ugly seperation.... our income is very lacking. Ok. Sorry. At little moment of self pitty there.

The touch, the feel of NYLON

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

After the tragic demise of ELLEgirl, I, like so many others who felt abandoned, started looking for a new magazine to fill that empty space inside. I though I'd try out NYLON. I bought the issue with Avril Lavinge on the cover, and I must say... I was disappointed.

But then I was at the bookstore, and I saw the cover with Amber Tamblyn on it. I think she's cool, and I like the whole "America issue" thing, so I decided to pick it up. Hey, what's $3.99?

Let me tell YOU, folks, NYLON has more than redeemed itself with this issue. It's spectacular.

Here's why: (and yes, I'm stealing this general idea from Hipster Musings' Isabel, and I'm sorry, but I had to write something on this issue, and this was the best way!)

#1. Forget Paris or London. This issue focuses on the good ol' US of A, and not even on Los Angeles or New York, but the smaller cities that are nonetheless hubs of fashion.

#2. Pgs- 28-29. Cory Kennedy is a styling genius. An entire outfit made out of things you can get at Rite Aid? Crazy.

#3. Pg 36. BADASS HOBO GLOVES!

#4. The major reason= pgs. 44 to 60. This is the part that focuses on cities other than New York and Los Angeles. Cities are: San Francisco, Portland, Austin, Omaha, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Brooklyn. What other magazine would mention Omaha as a major stylish city? Each city has a whole page dedicated to it, with a description of the city, it's fashion, lots of pretty pictures, and the best stores in the area.

#5. pg 46- I've decided that I am moving to Portland, Oregon. Just read these snippets: "The city is green to its core, chock full of parks with an incredible mass transit system" "Bicycles are a primary mode of transport, which results in an extensive network of bike lanes and trails. Valet parking for bikes? Bike-in-movies? Look no further."

And this.... welll.... this is the clincher: "Because of the cool, cloudy climate, biking to woork and to oplay requires some foorethought. Bags need to be of the across-the-shoulder variety--a clutch won't cut it. As for the clothes, sundresses with oversized shades or worn-in leather knapsacks slung over vintage three-piece suits float by steadily, as do headbands [a staple in my closet], hand-knitted fingerless gloves [DITTO], and even a fanny back here and there [not so much]." I think I would fit right in.

#6 pg. 50- It describes Omaha as one of the best places to buy vintage in the country. COOL!

#7. It has a great essay on malls, and our strange, American-culture obsession with shopping in a concrete building with no windows.

#8. A tribute to 80's hair. Which.... is what I was for Halloween! Legwarmers, huge hair, bow headband, long sweater, leggings... yeah baby.

#9. Jackie O. Need I say more?

#10. I kind of want to be like Amber Tamblyn. A poet, and feminist, and a respected actress. What more is there?

#11. This magazine is not afraid to type "fuck".

#12. A beauty spread takes a blow at those foreigners who think American beauty is all boob jobs and lip implants. It's very stripped-down, natural beauty. Just beautiful.

#13. "Road to Nowhere"- a cool spread featuring "girls on the road"

So basically, what is there not to like?

Don't stop believin',

Queen of Girly Cool

BETSEY JOHNSON.

She's absolutely amazing. I have yet to see such effortlessly cool informal dresses on any runway. While Betsey herself is a bit scary looking, her clothes are amazing. Period.

James, NOT JIMMY!

James Dean. The amazingly handsome, talented actor. NOT the sausage king.

Ohhhhh my. James was (is?) the star of one of my favorite movies ever, Rebel Without a Cause. Seriously, watch it. You'll be swooning the entire time. For those of us living under a rock, James (hell yeah, first name basis!) died at the tragically young age of just 24, in a car crash. In some way, this tragedy somehow imprinted his legend in cement. The fact that he made 3 amazing movies in just about 5 years...... wow.

Not only this, but he blows wimpy-icky men such as Chad Michael Murray (ewww) out of the water.

WHY IS HE SO SEXY????

Let's all listen to Nick Drake and swoon!

He's amazing. But he died in the 70's. Overdosed. What else is new?

Ok. So I was browsing elle.com, and I found my way to the runway section, which is great, it has even more shows than style.com. So yeah. I have like, a bunch, so let's just focus on a few today, yes?

Here:

Alberta Feretti: Really cute little dresses.

This blogger's back and she's better than ever!

Well, let me start with saying..... I am SO SORRY it took so long! I don't have alll my pictures switched to imageshack yet, but I am hoping to soon, so bear with me!

So, I didn't have time to think of a good topic, just because I'm posting this between projects for school. So the topic is...............

Dresses I like. Yes, I know. Wow. I love star style. Well, most of it.

^^^I like the slouchy, oversized-vibe of this one. Kirsten Dunst is quite the fashion plate, if you ask me.

(right, not left) She's so..... cool. Never have a seen such understated, PERFECT hair on a starlet in Hollywood.

Aw, I think she looks cute. And chic.

The Devil Wears Prada? No, the angel wears Marchesa!

Wow. That was bad.

But I love her dress.

...........

..........
Wow. wowowow. I am having SERIOUS writer's block. I'm not feeling very creative today. But have no fear, in just a few days, I'm sure I'll be back with full force. No dam will be able to hold back my gushing creativeness.

Blehhhhh.
