Current music obsession: KT Tunstall

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I am simply obsessed with KT Tunstall. Her music is so pure and simple. Her voice is earthy, gritty, raw, and organic. I got Eye to the Telescope as a gift from my friend, and am blown away every time I listen.

Song by song:

Other Side of the World: Melodic ballad about long-distance relationships, so soothing.
Another Place to Fall: Slighty angry.
Under the Weather: Homey, lilting song, my chill-out music.
Black Horse and the Cherry Tree: The song that made KT famous. Foot-stomping, rootsy folk. The lyrics make no sense, but I love this song, but the guitar to the woo-hoos.
Miniature Disasters: Very good, not the best on the album, but still very good.
Silent Sea: This is a good song because it's so simple. It's quiet and soft.
Universe & U: Hard to compare to anything, you'll just have to listen.
False Alarm: In my opinion, the worse song on the CD. Not horrible, but the worst on the CD. Sounds similar to Universe & U, just more boring.
Suddenly I See: I love this song. It's the most "pop" on the album, and has almost a 60's vibe to it. You might recognize it from the opening of The Devil Wears Prada.
Stoppin' the Love: This song is about ending a relationship, but your ex not wanting to let go. KT uses a background of a few men singing bass, and it really adds to the song. The beat to this song is great.
Heal Over: Moody and melancholy. Just KT and her guitar. Beautiful.
Through the Dark: This song has KT on the piano instead of guitar, and I personally love it. It has a jazz vibe to it, and I love the lyrics. They're about finding your way through a tough period in life. Different from the rest, but I think it adds to the album.

Also, check out her "Previously Unreleased- EP" It has a more guitar-driven version of Under the Weather, which I like just as much, perhaps even more than the original. It includes two songs not on the album: "Golden Age" and "Throw Me a Rope". I just downloaded "Throw Me a Rope" and love it.

Seriously. Check her out.
